William Grill is the youngest winner of the Kate Greenaway medal in 50 years. He was awarded the prize in 2015 after being shortlisted for his title Shackleton's Journey. The Kate Greenaway Medal is a British literary award that annually recognises "distinguished illustration in a book for children". It is conferred upon the illustrator by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) which inherited it from the Library Association.

Here Grill explores a new theme, with Nobrow imprint Flying Eye Books, following the story of a nortorious wolf pack and the man hired to trap their leader, in "The Wolves of Currumpaw". The print series ""The Wolves of Currumpaw" was conceived and created by William Grill to accompany the launch of this new illustrated children's story.
