Chloë Manasseh’s paintings and film works explore the limits of representation and ideas of remixing reality, investigating senses that allow us to construct a limited simulation of what is around us. Manasseh deconstructs the landscapes she has traversed, stripping them back to emotive gestural structures that distort our perception of space. By often omitting the horizon completely, Manasseh leaves the work in a vertiginous state. The painting serves to destabilise the viewer, implying sensations of being overwhelmed and off balance, contemplative and provoking.
Chloë Manasseh graduate from The Slade School of Fine Art (London) in 2014 and currently lives and works in Singapore and London.
